Obituary for Theresa Ann Ferris

FERRIS, THERESA ANN, age 64, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her home.

A Memorial Service for Theresa will take place at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 1 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow in Reflections Reception Center. Following the luncheon, a graveside service will take place at Chippewa Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to HATS (Humane Animal Treatment Society). Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Theresa was born February 25, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Lyle VanOrden and Helen Seeley. She attended Montabella Schools and graduated high school in Colorado. Theresa married Charles “Chuck” Ferris on April 30,1995 in Las Vegas. Theresa and Chuck spent a total of 43 years together. She worked for the past 23 years at the Soaring Eagle Casino as a house attendant. Theresa and Chuck were in a dart league together for many years, even winning a trip to Las Vegas. She was an avid reader, loved a good bonfire, and her dog Rudolph. Christmas was her favorite holiday; she was so proud of her extended Christmas Village of over 60 houses. In her spare time, Theresa enjoyed doing cross stitch and crossword puzzles.

Theresa is survived by her husband Chuck Ferris, children Candy Ferris of Mt. Pleasant, Casey (Erin) Ferris of NY, and Shawn Ferris (Rebecca Taylor) of Petoskey; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her mother Helen Seeley of Mt. Pleasant; siblings, Dennis (Michele) VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant, Denice (Bill) Courser of Mt. Pleasant, Jerry (Renee) VanOrden of Bad Axe, Clifford VanOrden, Donna VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant, Brenda (Angelo) Martinez of Swartz Creek, Wendy (Darrin) Cook of Flint, Cindy Seeley of Mt. Pleasant; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Theresa was preceded in death by her father Lyle; sister Tammy VanOrden; sister-in-law Sue VanOrden; and her dogs Shadow and Blue Boy.
