Obituary for Thomas John Behm
BEHM, THOMAS JOHN, age 76, of Blanchard, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his home.
Per Tom’s wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Animal Treatment Society, 1105 S. Isabella Rd., Mt. Pleasant, Michigan,48858. Envelopes are also available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.
Tom was born June 1, 1947, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Walter and Patricia (Walker) Behm. He was a graduate of Mt. Morris High School with the class of 1965. Following graduation, Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He married Constance Willett August 23, 1969, at the Mt. Morris United Methodist Church. Tom later earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Central Michigan University. He taught elementary education at Mt. Pleasant Public Schools for 35 years. Following retirement, Tom worked security at the Soaring Eagle Casino. He was a lifetime member of NRA and loved everything outdoors. Tom was active in martial arts; he earned the title of black belt in Taekwondo and Dragon Kempo.
Tom is survived by his daughter Alexis (Daniel) Green of Summerville, SC; grandchildren Elijah (16), Avalyn (13), and Nathaniel (11); brother Gary (Jeanne) Behm of Geneso, NY; sisters Nancy (Terry) O’Leary of Metamora, MI, Bonnie (Thomas) Riutta of Brighton, MI; and 5 nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
