Obituary for Tony Martinez
MARTINEZ, TONY, age 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Tony will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Benjamen Evers officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Following the burial, in honor of Tony’s birthday, an assortment of sweets and drinks will be held at Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Tony was born March 22, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Anastacio and Catalina (Iberra) Martinez. He worked as a field technician for GTE/Verizon for 33 years. Tony was a past member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Shepherd. Tony enjoyed work, listening to music, and working on cars.
Tony is survived by his daughters Melissa (Brian) Emlinger of Alma, Toni (Nick) Newell of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Elaina (Dan), Brandon, Maria, Alexander, Ethan, Lincoln; and great-grandchildren Ayden, Adalynn, Ariella; and sisters Rita Hart of Oklahoma City, OK, and MaryAnn (Doug) Reava of Columbus, MS.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph, Toby, and Jesse Martinez; and sister Gloria Delacruz.
