Obituary for Wallace Homer Chatfield Jr.

CHATFIELD, WALLACE HOMER, JR., age 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at McLaren Bay Region.

A Private Funeral Service for Wallace will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Friends are invited to attend the services via a live broadcast on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. by visiting the webcasting link at Wallace’s Book of Memories at www.clarkfuneralchapel.com or www.facebook.com/clarkfuneralchapel. The family will receive friends at a public visitation on Monday, January 11, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #110 or VFW Post #3033. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Wallace was born on June 7, 1947, in Bay City, the son of Wallace and Leona (Essex) Chatfield, Sr. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years also as a maintenance manager. He retired from Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. Wallace married Esther Chamberlain-Chatfield on November 15, 1995 in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of Sanford Moose Lodge, Sanford Eagles Lodge, Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post 110, and Mt. Pleasant VFW Post 3033. Wallace enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing darts, pool, and was a chef. He also received his orderly certification and worked at the Bay County Hospital.

Wallace is survived by his wife Esther Chatfield of Mt. Pleasant; his children: Ted Chatfield (Melissa Barnum) of Mt. Pleasant, Kenny (Christy) Chatfield of Bay City, Paul Chatfield of Bay City, Robert (Stephanie) Chatfield of Houghton Lake, Wallace (Gloria) Chatfield III of Sebawing, Jason Chatfield of Hope; stepson Vinnie (Tonia) Kequom of Mt. Pleasant, Dana (Chip) Neyome of Mt. Pleasant; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers John Chatfield of Mt. Pleasant, David (Samantha) Chatfield of Mt. Pleasant; sister Mary (Louie) Escamillia of Remus; and aunt Lucy (Ike) Pelcher of Mt. Pleasant.

Wallace was preceded in death by his father Wallace Chatfield, Sr.; his mother Leona June Chatfield; brother Michael Chatfield; sister April Willis; and grandparents Arthur Chatfield and Agnes Stevens-Chatfield.
