Walter Boone Newman Sr. 76 of Harrison, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at MidMichigan Health-Midland. Walter was born August 7, 1941 in Hardy, Kentucky, the son of Frederick Patterson Newman and Arkie Jane (Parks) Newman.
On September 28, 1963 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Mr. Newman was united in marriage to Ms. Alice Marie Britton. Walter moved to Harrison in 1983, coming from Ypsilanti. He enjoyed watching many televised professional wrestling events, old western movies, fishing and spoiling his grandchildren.
Surviving Walter is his loving wife of fifty-four years, Mrs. Alice Marie Newman of Harrison, two daughters; Nancy Murray and husband Dennis and Arkie Newman and Russell Harris Jr. of Lake Station, Michigan, one son, Walter Newman Jr. and wife Helen of Harrison, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruby Bradner of Plymouth, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Freddie Lee Newman, and two sisters Susie Anderson and Ruth Helen Coddle.
Funeral services honoring Mr. Newman will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor David Spriggs officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.
