Obituary for William Henry Sprague
SPRAGUE, WILLIAM HENRY, age 95, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Crestwood Village Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant.
Cremation will take place at Daisy Hill Crematory in Mt. Pleasant. A Memorial Service for Bill will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made Elera Caring Hospice.
Bill was born December 17, 1925, in Weidman, the son of Alfred and Almeda (Switzer) Sprague. He graduated from Weidman High School with the class of 1944. Following graduation, Bill joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1946 in the Pacific Theatre during WWII, operating troop landing crafts. He married Josephine Nelson in 1944, she preceded him in death on October 14, 1981. Bill married Rose Brickner November 6, 1982, and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2018. Bill retired as the purchasing agent for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center for 32 years. He loved traveling and going to the casino.
Bill is survived by his children Billie Jo Martinez from Weidman, Dale (Vickie) Sprague of Mt. Pleasant, Fred (Dawn) Sprague of Mt. Pleasant, stepchildren Chris (Gerald) Zeien of Mt. Pleasant, Brenda (Randall) Klein of TX, Dave (Mary) Brickner of Beal City, Greg (Vicky) Brickner of Coldwater Lake, Kay Cross of Mt. Pleasant, Rob (Brenda) Brickner of Mt. Pleasant, Geoff Brickner (Chris Yarbrough) of Sterling Heights, Mark (Krista) Brickner of Lake Isabella, Ed (Sheila) Brickner of Lansing, and Amy (Phil) Block of Beal City; grandchildren Jean (Bo) Abbott, Tammy (Kevin) Recker, Robert (Val) Denslow, Dale (Lynn) Denslow, Donna (Dennis) Bailey, Allan Martinez, Dana Sprague, Ryan (Mary) Hamilton, Todd Hamilton, Nathan (Rebecca) Sprague, Drew (Emily) Sprague; step-grandchildren Dale (Becky) Martinez, Richard (Cindy) Martinez, Terry Martinez, Mike Martinez; 14 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; first and second wives; granddaughter Melissa Blizzard; son-in-law Toby Martinez; and 9 siblings.
