Obituary for William James "Bill" Wood II

WOOD II, WILLIAM JAMES “BILL”, age 52, of Fowler, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away November 1, 2017.

A Memorial Service for William will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, November 10, at 11 a.m. with Ken Mlynar officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow at the church. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org.

William was born on June 20, 1965, in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the son of William and Vietta (Calkins) Wood. William received his Associates Degree from Ferris State University and was a proud partner and contributor to the family printing business for many years. Bill was a skilled pressman and artist who expressed his appreciation for world history and culture by collecting coins and stamps from all over the world. He was a brilliant hydroponic urban gardener, teaching others his craft in order to share his belief in sustainable agriculture and personal responsibility. Bill was a loving father, friend, and Papa who always said that, “Vacations aren’t vacations without my kids.” He travelled frequently to visit his children and explore the world in their company.

William is survived by his children, William James (Myrna) Wood III of Mesa, AZ, and Kara Ann (Andrew) Wood Leese of Redford, MI, and their children; father, William James (Sandra) Wood of Clare, MI; sister, Wendy (Jeff) Hay of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and the mother of his children Cynthia (Runski-Wood) Baker, of White Lake, MI.

William was preceded in death by his mother, Vietta Wood.
