Obituary for Woods Robert Brown
BROWN, WOODS ROBERT, 78, passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at Grand Oaks Nursing Center in Baldwin, Michigan after a long illness.
A Memorial Service for Woods will take place at 11:00 a.m. on November 2, 2019, at McKendree Methodist Church in Candor, New York. Burial to follow.
Woods was born July 23, 1941, in Greenville, PA, the twin son of Woods Ransom and Naomi Mae (Bortz) Brown. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown University, followed by his master’s degree from Capital University in Columbus, OH. On August 28, 1965, Woods married Jeanne McDermid, in Rochester, NY. He began his career as an auditor for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (NYC), followed by corporate financial management positions for Xerox Corporation (Rochester, New York), Borden, Inc. (Columbus, Ohio), NL Industries, Baroid Division (Houston, Texas), and served as manager of two divisions of Bastion Industries. The final eighteen years of his career were spent as President and CEO of Kingsbury Incorporated, a premier international bearing manufacturer, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While in this position, he served as a member of the Manufacturing Council established by President George Bush in his first term of office. Woods retired from Kingsbury in 2007. He and his wife moved to Michigan where Woods enjoyed fishing, golfing and cruising the world (being fortunate to have visited approx. 50 countries).
Woods is survived by his wife Jeanne Brown; son Woods Robert (Lois) Brown II of Virginia; daughter Karyn Whitney (Kenny) Grubbs of Kentucky; grandchildren Caty Jane (Connor) Vincent, Clare Rebecca Brown, and Woods Reece Brown, all of Virginia; and his twin sister Joyce (Dick) Weaver of Pennsylvania.
Woods was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Michael L. Brown
