December 25, 1954 – May 25, 2012

Byron Guy Kortman, 57, of Mount Pleasant passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at his home.

A celebration of Byron's life will be held at the Reflections Reception Center at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jon Van Dop leading the celebration. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cancer Services in honor of Byron, on behalf of his parents. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Byron was born on December 25, 1954 in Grayling, the son of Ivan and Gloria (Wirgua) Kortman. Byron proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Lynette Pyrett on July 17, 1975 in Mt. Pleasant. Following his tour of duty, Byron worked as a commercial painter for 31 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Painters Local Union #1803. Byron loved to ride motorcycles and go hunting.

Byron is survived by wife of 36 years, Lynette; siblings, Dale (Kathy) Kortman, Sue (Emmett) Searles, Darrin (Tracy) Kortman, Marianne (Thomas) Frick, Vicki Pyrett, Phillip (Karen) Pyrett and Michael (Barbara) Pyrett; parent in laws, Victor and Audry Pyrett of Lake Isabella; four aunts; one uncle; and many nieces and nephews.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents.
