Margaret Ann Stokes, age 76, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services for Margaret will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeremy Selvidge and Wayne Shidler officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held back at the church following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or Heartland Hospice in Margaret's name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Margaret was born on November 4, 1939 in Detroit to Henry and Doris (Hutchens) Ebersol. Margaret was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mt. Pleasant. She was a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and earned her Master of Education at Michigan State University. She taught hundreds of children in her 35 years as a school teacher, most of them in the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools. Margaret married Richard Allen Stokes on June 9, 1962. She enjoyed making afghans, ceramics, studying the Bible, serving at her church, and spending time with her family.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 53 years Richard Stokes of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 2 sons, Alan (Anne) Stokes of Lansing, MI and Michael (Tanya) Stokes of Holt, MI; 3 grandchildren, Rebecca Stokes, Jacob Stokes, and Jonathan Stokes, and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rohn Ebersol; and her parents.

The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice, the Isabella County Adult Day Care Program, and her angel caregiver, Leslie Schafer, for their special care for Margaret that allowed her to stay in her home during her illness.
