Obituary for Barbara Ann Kirchner

Barbara Ann  Kirchner
KIRCHNER, BARBARA ANN, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at
Crestwood Village.

Funeral Services for Barbara will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Michigan Area Concert Band, HATS, or the First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Barbara was born on April 18, 1928 in Elmhurst, IL the daughter of Benjamin and Mata (Hartung) Crane. She married Richard Jay Kirchner in Madison, WI on February 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2009. Barbara graduated from Two Rivers High School in Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelors Degree in English from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. For several years, she worked for the Registrar’s Office at CMU. Barbara was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Charter Member of the Central Michigan Area Concert Band, PEO, and has been a member of several Bridge Clubs throughout the years. She loved the arts, traveling/camping, and riding the S.S. Badger. Barb was an avid fan of all Detroit sports teams, and loved watching figure skating. She was a huge supporter of WCMU public radio.

She is survived by her children Richard A. (Sue) Kirchner of Tampa, FL, Barbara J. Kirchner of The Thumb, Carolyn (John) Creamer of Fredericksburg, VA, Robert (Kathy) Kirchner of League City, TX, and Kathleen Kirchner of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren Elyssa and Kelsey Kirchner of League City, TX; her two beloved cats Needles and Starling; and dear friend and helper Toni Smith-Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
