Obituary for Benny V. Lopez Jr.

Benny V.  Lopez  Jr.
LOPEZ, BENNY V., JR., age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services for Benny will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Ron Ives officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday

Benny was born November 27, 1940, in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, to Benito and Eloina (Menedez) Lopez, Sr. He married Nancy Buning on March 11, 1967, in Crystal, Michigan. Benny graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from CMU, and a degree in nursing from Mid Michigan Community College. He worked as a medical technologist, and retired in 2005. Benny worked for BPS Laboratory for 20 years, and CMU from 1995-2005. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, and a member of the Eagle's Club #4463. Benny was currently still playing in his band, Stil Country Band; and had played with Country Classics Band. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and loved all sports.

Benny is survived by his wife Nancy Lopez; children Sheryl (Bryan) Lynch of Wasilla, AK, Robert (Tracey) Lopez of North Carolina, Brenda (Michael) Dunham of Lake Isabella, Benny (Emily) Lopez III of Houston, TX, and Jeffrey (Kristi) Lopez of Shepherd; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Tony Lopez of Florida; sisters Nereida Harrington of Lake Odessa, and Edith Otto of Vestaburg.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Michelle Custer-Dunham.
