Obituary for Betty Jane Gruss

Betty Jane  Gruss
GRUSS, BETTY JANE, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Maplewood.

A Funeral Mass for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 and 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with a Prayer Service that evening at 7:30 p.m.Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Soup Kitchen. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Betty was born on December 31, 1927, in Monroe, MI, the daughter of William and Edna Maxwell. She married Rollen F. Gruss on October 19, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Betty was a daycare provider for over 35 years. Previously she had worked as a nurse’s aide at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was an active volunteer for the Isabella County Soup Kitchen. Betty enjoyed camping, mushrooming, gardening and canning, and garage saling. She loved spending summers at Central Lake.

Betty is survived by her children William (Catherine) Gruss and Rollen Gruss, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Todd (Marci) Gruss of Mt. Pleasant, Janell (Dee) Rose of Sierra Madre’, CA, Cassandra King of Mt. Pleasant and Krystal (Mike Fent) King of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Andrew Gruss, Nathan Gruss, Brady Gruss and Aston Michael Fent; brother-in-law Richard (Roxanne Schafer) Gruss of Beal City; and sister-in-law Joan (Ron) Schumacher of Beal City.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Rollen Gruss on September 6, 1999.
