Obituary for Cassie C Newton
NEWTON, CASSIE C., age 97, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
A Memorial Service for Cassie will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, with Mark Abler officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends the day of the service beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella Commission on Aging Foster Grandparent Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Cassie was born December 15, 1920, in Marlow, Tennessee, the daughter of Hal and Dove (Jarnigan) Collins. She was an X-ray technician at Central Michigan Community Hospital from 1968-1974. Cassie attended First Church of the Nazarene. She was a foster grandparent, volunteering for 35 years with the Isabella County Commission on Aging from 1982-2017. Cassie was recognized in May of this year with a Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award.
Cassie is survived by her children: Karen (Ron) Gaffe` of Greensboro, NC, Darryl (Marcia) Hulsey of Boaz, AL, and Rainella "Sue" (Jeff) Hahn of Ithaca; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
Cassie was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.
