Catherine “Cathy” Jean Ramsay 85 of Houghton Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017 at The Brook of Grayling. Catherine was born October 28, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Charles Albert Peltier Sr. and Mary Theresa (Stone) Peltier. On June 7, 1973 in Newaygo, Michigan, Cathy was united in marriage to Mr. Alexander “Alex” Ramsay Jr. Mr. Ramsay preceded Cathy in death on February 27, 2013 after thirty nine years of marriage.
Mrs. Ramsay was co-owner and operator of the Dodge City General Store, rural Harrison for over forty years. Cathy’s greatest passion is helping people, visiting and sharing stories with her family and friends. Cathy also enjoyed her time spent living on the shores of Houghton Lake.
Mrs. Ramsay is survived by her adopted son, Louis Bussiere, one step-son, David Ramsay, two step-daughters; Judy Gardener and Christine Moceri, six step-grandchildren; Kathy, Debbie, Jimmy, Michael, Doug and Jennifer, many step-great grandchildren, one sister in law, Geraldine Peltier, one niece, Debra Wolf and husband Richard, two nephews; Charles Peltier and wife Toni and William Peltier, many great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Ramsay also was preceded in death by her parents, one step-son, Doug Ramsay, one brother, Chuck Peltier Jr. and nephews; Ronald and Kenneth Peltier.
Funeral services honoring Mrs. Ramsay will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in Cedar Crest Cemetery, Dodge City. Memorial gifts in memory of Catherine may be considered to: Disabled American Veterans or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
