Services: Sunday, September 3, 2 p.m., Clark Funeral Chapel


Visitation: Saturday, September 2, 3-9 p.m., Clark Funeral Chapel and Sunday, September 3, 12 noon until the time of service, Clark Funeral Chapel


Charles Henry Ley, 46, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2006, at his home.

Funeral services for Charles will be held on Sunday, September 3rd at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 2nd from 3-9 p.m. at the chapel and on Sunday, September 3rd from noon until time of service at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ley Children College Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Charles was born on October 13, 1959 in Alma, the son of Henry and Barbara (O’Brien) Ley. He graduated from Beal City High School, class of 1978. Charles married Dana Schafer on February 8, 1985. He worked for Randall Manufacturing for 18 years and most recently for, Michigan Microtech as the Michigan Regional Warehouse Manager. Charles was a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association for Umpires and past President of Beal City Sports Boosters. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, umpiring and Texas Horse Shoes.

Charles is survived by his wife, Dana; daughters, Ashley Ley of Kalamazoo and Molly Ley of Weidman; father, Junior Ley of Rosebush; mother, Barbara Ley of Grand Rapids; mother-in-law, Carol Schafer of Weidman; brothers, Tom Ley of Rosebush and Steve (Rolla) Ley of Rosebush and sisters, Patti Ley of Grand Rapids, Janet (Bruce) Geairn of Battle Creek and Barb (Jim) Beltinck of Traverse City.

Charles was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leon Schafer and his grandparents.
