VANORDEN, CLINTON EUGENE, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital.
Funeral services for Clinton will be held at First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Wilson officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church, and interment will take place at Broomfield Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella County 4-H, or to the First Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.
Clinton was born April 11, 1943 in Isabella County, the son of Clinton and Mildred (Howard) VanOrden. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1963. He married Cathleen Ann Hyder on July 24, 1976. Clinton worked as a housekeeper at Central Michigan Community Hospital for 28 years. Prior to that, he worked at Atlas Supply Company, Chiefton Hotel, and Yankee Stores. Clinton was very active in 4-H small animals and was a leader for 34 years. He enjoyed building things, time spent outdoors, and raising rabbits.
Clinton is survived by his wife Cathy VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant, son Dan VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant, brother Bill (Lois) VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant, mother in law Marjory Hyder of Remus, niece Patty (Norm) Woodward of Mt. Pleasant, 3 sisters in law Nancy Hyder of Remus, Emily (Ken) Wolfe of Bronson, MI, and Ilene Hyder of Blanchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father in law Albert Hyder, 2 sisters Shirley and Judy; and a brother in law Allen Hyder.
