Corinne Lynn Schelling, 48, of Mt. Pleasant, MI passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 11, 2006.
A private memorial for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Owen White-Pigeon of the Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. Cremation will take place prior to the memorial service.
Corinne was born January 15, 1958, in Mt. Pleasant, MI to John and Yvonne (Kahgegab) Davis. Corinne attended the Mt. Pleasant High School and attained her high school diploma from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM.
She was a gifted artist. Her family and friends will miss her great sense of humor. She served in Desert Storm as a Sergeant after joining the Army National Guard. After her tour was over, she worked for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe’s Accounting Department. She became a homemaker several years later to enjoy time with her husband, Craig Schelling, children, grandchildren and friends since the war had deeply moved her on how precious life is. Her family was very important to her. She spent time giving of herself to help with any situation that might bring positive results to their lives.
Her favorite past times were spending time with the love of her life, her husband, Craig. Travel out west, to the desert, brought them much pleasure. It did not matter what they were doing though, they were so much in love. The family is just so happy that they are together again. She also loved spending most of her time with her grandchildren and spoiling them. She also loved the lake. After Craig passed away, she enjoyed trips with her special friends, Sonja Sowmick, Marlene Jackson and Melissa Sowmick.
Corinne is survived by her two daughters, Crystal Davidson and Nichol Mark; Stepsons, Jason and Aaron Schelling; Grand daughter, Mileena Davidson and grandson, Anthony Mark; Brothers, Tim (Adelaide) Davis, Raymond (Merdine) Davis, and Frank Davis; Aunts, Lorna Kahgegab (John) Call, Diane Trepanier, and Roxene Judson; Uncle, Maynard Kahgegab, Sr.; Nieces, nephews, many cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Schelling; Parents, John and Yvonne Davis; brother, Nicholas Davis; Grand parents, John and Jessie (Chickum) Davis, Sr. and Nelson and Emily (Collins) Kahgegab; Nephew, Frankie Davis.
