Obituary for David Gerald Cotter

David Gerald  Cotter
COTTER, DAVID GERALD, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at home under the care of Mid Michigan Hospice and surrounded by family.

Funeral Services for Dave will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 31, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Butler officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Dave was born on April 8, 1934, in Isabella County, the son of John and Katherine (Schafer) Cotter. He married Loretta Nelson on November 28, 1953, in Ithaca. Dave was a proud and successful Mayor of Cotterville. He enjoyed flying airplanes, working with his hands, and playing cards. Dave was a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife, Loretta; sons, Kip (Edie), Kurt (Karen), Kim (Patti), and Kie (Jill) Cotter; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Arlene) and Ken (Sharon) Cotter; sisters, Irene Suman and Betty (Olan) Black; and siblings-in-law, Ray Pung, Karen Cotter, and Leroy (Rose) Nelson.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Veda (Jim) Howell and Ruth Pung; brother, Pat Cotter; and brother-in-law, Bob Suman.
