Obituary for Delford Wheaton

Delford "Del" Wheaton, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 12 noon at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will take place the day of the service from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Del was born January 15, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan to Thomas and Erma (Jackson) Wheaton. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He married Melody Sebring on April 1, 2013 in Mt. Pleasant Del loved classic cars and playing euchre.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Wheaton of Mt. Pleasant; 5 children, Timothy Hansen of Grand Rapids, MI, Christopher and Linda Higgins of Greenville, MI, Rhonda and Kurt Sisson of Sheridan, MI, Michael Higgins of Fenwick, MI, and Scott Barber of Ionia, MI; two grandchildren, Megan and Logan Higgins; brothers and sisters, Thomas and Doreen Wheaton of California, Kent Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Floyd and Julie Ruegesegger of Ironwood, MI, Dave Ruegesegger of Florida, Sue Traver of Lowell, MI, Robert and Virginia Smalley of Fenwick, MI, Nancy and Thomas Sebring of Fenwick, MI, Fred and Carol Smalley of Carson City, MI, and Nadine and Leon Houseman of Stanton, MI.

Del was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Hansen; and sister, Evelyn Brown.
