Obituary for Dr. Sharon Lee House

Dr. Sharon Lee House
HOUSE, DR. SHARON LEE, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully at Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant on February 15, 2017.
Per Sharon's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Sharon's Life, along with h'ors d'oeuvre's will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Sharon requested gifts of love to be made to Dreams with Wings, a not for profit comprehensive day program, work training, and group homes established for adults with disabilities like her nephew, Joshua Brennan. Please visit their website, DreamswithWings.org, to view the overall organization and the successes that have been gained. Donations may also be given to a charity of your choice.
Sharon was born August 30, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Durward D. and Adlyn Emily (Hoffmann) House. Sharon was a gifted Teacher in Louisville Public Schools for a number of years after graduating from University of Louisville. Upon obtaining her Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and San Miguel de Allenda in Mexico, she accepted a position as Professor in the Art Department at Central Michigan University. Upon publishing a book, several articles, and displaying her work at several art shows and galleries, she obtained tenure. She thoroughly enjoyed her students, colleagues, and friends while continuing her painting, sketching, printings, photography, sculpture, and various other art forms. She was always a world traveler and her work may be found in many private collections around the world. Throughout her education, Sharon sought to see the beauty in the lands and people of the world through world travel and photography; many of which may be found in various publications.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Prestige Centre for the wonderful care, love, and support extended to Sharon and her family. The staff at Prestige went beyond expectations to keep her active and doing the things she enjoyed. We also wish to thank her kind and loving friends Dr. Thomas Benjamin and Ms. Marge Havens for watching over her, visiting, and especially the many times Dr. Benjamin took Sharon out and brightened her life immensely.
Sharon is survived by her sister, Dr. Alison D. House Brennan; and nephews Daniel David House Brennan and Joshua R. Brennan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Durward and Adlyn House.
