Obituary for Elaine Elizabeth "Granny" Esterline (Pitts)
ESTERLINE (PITTS), ELAINE "GRANNY" ELIZABETH, age 95, of Farwell, MI, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Troy Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan.
Funeral services for Elaine will be held at Gilmore Church of Christ on Saturday, March 25th, at 11 a.m. with Kevin Smith and Randy Penwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Gilmore Township Cemetery immediately following the service. A Luncheon will be held back at the church following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, MI, on Friday, March 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilmore Church of Christ of which Elaine was a lifelong member in lieu of flowers.
Elaine was born on June 27, 1921, in Nottawa Township, Isabella County, MI. She was the daughter of James Franklin and Rena “Grace” (Perry) Pitts. Elaine worked at Holley Carburetor and then Colt Industries in Clare, Michigan. She then worked at Mt. Pleasant Community Hospital (McLaren Hospital) as a dietitian until her retirement. In her retirement, her passion was being a dedicated, loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and recently great-great-grandchild. She loved to sew, crochet, craft, and cook for her family and friends. She loved spending time entertaining her family and friends in her home playing games and cooking. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ all her life and based her life on Him.
Elaine is survived by her children, Lynn (Wendy) Esterline of Clyde Township, MI, and Larry (Cynthia) Esterline of Clarkston, MI; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Yvonne Pitts; and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard Ralph Pitts (2011), and Elwyn Franklin Pitts (2016); and sister-in-law, Mary Helen Pitts (2005).
