Emma Mary Koontz, age 89, of Weidman passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at MediLodge of Mt. Pleasant.

A Memorial Service for Emma will be held at the Maranatha Baptist Church on Saturday, September 3, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Gene Haymaker officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow. The family will receive friends at the church the day of the service from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maranatha Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Emma was born on December 4, 1926 in Detroit, the daughter of Achille and Emma (Desaegher) Peerren. She married Donald John Koontz on July 24, 1945 in Amarillo, TX. Emma worked for St. Johns Hospital in Detroit. Emma was a member at the Maranatha Baptist Church. She loved roses, reading, and watching the game show network.

Emma is survived by children, Sharon (David) Hardy of Fife Lake, Donald (Becky) Koontz of Weidman, Ron Koontz of Brighton, and Janice (Ryan) Davis of Morrice; 21 grandchildren; 30 and counting great-grandchildren; and many relatives in Belgium.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Koontz; parents; and brother, Jerry Peeren.
