Obituary for Florence Lorraine Jeffrey (Maxon)

JEFFREY, FLORENCE LORRAINE, age 94, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility under the care of Heartland Hospice.

Funeral Services for Florence will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 2, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Connie Bongard officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held at the Coomer United Methodist Church following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Florence was born on April 20, 1922, in Broomfield Township, the daughter of Ethelbert and Luella (Hall) Maxon. She married Ernest Jeffrey on September 25, 1938, in Remus. Florence worked for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center for 10 years. Florence enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, crocheting, gardening, and playing Skip-bo. Most important to Florence was her family.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Mary Craven of Winn, Ruby (Clyde Miles) Jennings, Marjorie (Joseph) Hebert, both of Mt. Pleasant; sons, George Darnell Jr. and Mark Darnell; daughters-in-law, Judy Jeffrey of Weidman, Hazel Jeffrey of Mt. Pleasant, and Cheryl Jeffrey of Shepherd; 42 grandchildren; over 100 great-grandchildren; 50 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Jeffrey; second husband, George Darnell; sons, Elton, Nelson, Columbus, Kenneth, Leo, and Victor; son-in-law, Howard Craven; grandchildren, Debra, Michael, Donald, Andrea, and William; 1 great-grandson, Kyle; parents; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.
