Obituary for Gary Chris Harris

HARRIS, GARY CHRIS, age 69, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2017, under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice at home.

Funeral Services for Gary will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 17, at 11 a.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Interment will be held in Wambolt Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to Michigan Parkinson's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Gary was born on Christmas Day 1947, in Mt. Clemens, the son of Russell and Gladys (Hoover) Harris. Gary worked as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service for 27 years, retiring in 1997. He married Joyce MacDonald on May 22, 1994. Gary enjoyed playing bingo, going golfing, bowling, playing softball, and being with family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Joyce Harris; sons, Gary (Michelle) Harris II of Cincinnati, OH, and his mother, Gloria, and Matthew Alan (Angela) Harris of Honolulu, HI, and his mother, Catherine; 4 grandchildren, Kaydence, Kasidy, Austin, and Aaron; brother, Edward Harris of New Baltimore, MI; and sisters, Catherine (Barbara Limbert) Harris of Lake, Shirley HUbbarth of Marine City, Laura (Ted) Shinn of Dallas, TX, and Gladys (Carl) Gabrielson of OH.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Leon and Anna MacDonald; and brothers, James and Thomas Harris.
