Obituary for Gertrude Ann Smith

Gertrude Ann  Smith
SMITH, GERTRUDE ANN; age 77, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Laurels-Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services for Gertrude will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronald Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. A luncheon will follow services in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, and from 10 a.m. until the time of Service on Wednesday, September 24, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Gertrude was born on November 8, 1936, in Crystal, MI, the daughter of Peter and Jessie (Johnston) Moore. She graduated in the Class of 1955 from Edmore High School. Before her retirement in 2000, Gertrude had worked for 16 years as a cashier for Giant, for a year and a half as a manager at Ecclestone, for 10 years at Gert’s Janitor Service and six years at Mid Michigan Community College. Gertrude’s favorite pastimes included gardening and watching her hummingbirds and orioles.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Thomas (Ron Kruman) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Kathy (Steven) Fought of Indiana, and Douglas (Kim) Smith of San Antonio, TX; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Doris Burns of Edmore and Jean (Doyt) Pyle of Elwell.

Gertrude was preceeded in death by brothers Kenneth Moore and Donald Moore and sisters Ruby Baker, Neva Walkington, Marie Simpson, Lucille Wandel, and Daisy Keeler.
