Obituary for Glenna Jane Clendening

Glenna Jane Clendening
CLENDENING, GLENNA JANE Farr Bond, age 94, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Woodland Hospice House.

A Memorial Service for Glenna will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Lane, Rev. Curtis Jenson and Rev. Ronald Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, the First United Methodist Church in Winn, or the Isabella County Commission On Aging.

Glenna was born on January 26, 1923, in Fremont Township, Isabella County, Michigan, the daughter of Harry Comfort and Mary Jane (Moor) Farr. She married Howard T. Bond on December 24, 1941, who preceded Glenna in death in 2000. Glenna married Byron J. Clendening on January 17, 2002, who preceded her in death in 2009. Glenna was a homemaker, a gracious hostess, and active in her community and church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, (previously the Winn United Methodist Church), the local chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Eastern Star. Glenna loved the outdoors and the beach. While living in Maine, she widely studied flora and fauna; therefore, she was the go-to expert on those subjects for family and friends alike. She was an avid birdwatcher and a member of the National Audubon Society.

Glenna is survived by her Moor cousins and her Bond nieces and nephews including Ronald (Linda) Bond of Grand Rapids. She is also survived by her Clendening family: David (Betty) Clendening of Belvidere, IL, Janet (James) Schoettle of Zeeland, Robert (Katherine) Clendening of Mt. Pleasant, Anne (Curtis) Jensen of Mt. Pleasant, and Nancy (Craig) Clingan of Mt. Pleasant; numerous step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church, Winn United Methodist Church, or Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel and during the Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church.
