Obituary for Helen Miller

Helen  Miller
MILLER, HELEN LOUISE, age 94, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Helen will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Diane Gordon and Pastor Ronald Thompson co-officiating. A luncheon will follow the Service in the Reflections Reception Center. Graveside Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, and continuing from 1 p.m. until the time of Service on Sunday, January 10, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella County Commission on Aging or First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Helen was born on December 11, 1921, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Harry and Marion (Kile) Quackenbush. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Helen married Oral Miller on March 29, 1940, in Isabella County. She had last worked as a cashier at Kroger’s, and previously for the Earl Richards State Farm Agency and JC Penney’s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Helen was active in community service. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Arbor of Gleaners, receiving their Community Service Award in 1994, and a Gold Key volunteer for 27 years for Isabella County Commission on Aging, receiving the Gold Key Volunteer of the Year award in 1992. She also volunteered at the information desk at Central Michigan Community Hospital and was a 4-H leader. Helen enjoyed camping and playing cards. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. Helen dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her children Joyce (R.J.) Schafer and Kirk (Lisa Golden) Miller, both of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Howard (Venila) Quackenbush of Blanchard; and sister-in-law Dolores Quackenbush of Grand Haven.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Oral Miller, parents, and brother Harold Quackenbush.
