Obituary for Helen Margaret Pappas (Zuker)

PAPPAS, HELEN MARGARET, age 83, of Rosebush passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017, at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services for Helen will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 22, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Ronald Wagner officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Rite of Burial will be held at St. Henry's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid Michigan Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Helen was born on September 30, 1934, in Beal City, the daughter of Frank and Matilda (Berg) Zuker. She married Patrick Joseph Pappas on September 2, 1961, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City. Helen worked for Schueller Insurance for many years. Early in her life, Helen loved casino hopping, whether it be Northern Michigan or Las Vegas, with Pat, Sr. Helen loved collecting rocks throughout the United States, collecting ceramic hand bells, doing multiple crafts, playing cards, gardening, and baking treats that were always enjoyed by many family, friends, and sons' co-workers. She always loved to spoil her two grandsons. Helen was very proud of her family and loved them to pieces. She enjoyed the simple things in life, like feeding the birds and numerous barn cats.

Helen is survived by her children, Patrick Joseph (Terri) Pappas, Jr. of Rosebush and Randy Pappas of Rosebush; grandsons, Patrick “Joey” Pappas III and Nicholas James Pappas; brother-in-law, Ed (Mary) Pappas of Rosebush; sister-in-law, Diane Zuker of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Pat in 2011; parents; parents-in-law, Gus and Mary Pappas; brothers, Ray (Naomi) Zuker, Norman (Donna) Zuker, Howard (Reba) Zuker, and Paul Zuker; sister, Rita (Leo) Smokler; and brother-in-law, Tom (Barbara “Tiny”) Pappas.
