Howard Frank Castle 86 of Harrison passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at North Woods Nursing Center, Farwell, Michigan. Mr. Castle was born November 3, 1931 in Owosso, Michigan the son of Howard A. and Marion (Harvey) Castle. Mr. Castle honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On October 10, 1951 in Owosso, Howard was united in marriage to Ms. Laura May Farley.
Mr. Castle had resided in Harrison since 1981, coming from Owosso. Howard retired from General Motors Corporation in 1983 after thirty-one years of dedicated service. Mr. Castle was a life member of V.F.W. Post 9455 of Owosso and a thirteen- year member of Harrison Eagles Club Aerie #3541. Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, building campfires, vegetable and fruit gardening and bowling.
Surviving Mr. Castle is his loving wife of sixty-six years, Mrs. Laura May Castle of Harrison, his daughter, Brenda Henry and husband Fred of Edmore, Michigan, four sons; Calvin Castle and wife Christine of Owosso, Wendall Castle and wife Jackie of Traverse City, Michigan, Roger Castle and wife Christine of Harrison and Dennis Castle and wife Crystal of Rapid City, Michigan, twelve grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one sister, Helen Palasio of Corunna, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and several friends. Mr. Castle was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Kevin Castle and two brothers; George Castle and Delbert Castle.
Funeral services honoring Mr. Castle will take place Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post 1075, Harrison. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. from Oakwood Cemetery, Owosso.
