Obituary for Ida Mae Marshall

Ida Mae  Marshall
MARSHALL, IDA MAE, age 88, of Clare passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Ida will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Granddaughter Noelle Gaffka officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. A Luncheon will take place in the Reflections Reception Center following the committal service. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at Clark Family Funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Farwell Community of Christ Church or Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Ida was born March 16, 1928, in Flint, the daughter of Inman and Clara (Dinnen) Schaar. She worked as an L.P.N. nursing supervisor for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center for 26 years, retiring in 1986. She had previously worked for Ferro Manufacturing. Ida married Emerson “Hedge” Marshall on December 13, 1975, in Clare. She enjoyed helping her husband on their farm. Ida was baptized in 1958 and was a member of Farwell Community of Christ Church. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. Ida loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed hosting family reunions for 25 years. She enjoyed dancing and going to the casino. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, painting, flowers and watching wildlife.

Ida is survived by her husband, Emerson “Hedge” Marshall of Clare; her children, Sharon (Michael) Wooddell of Sidney,OH and Joy (Greg) Hall of Lake City; step-children Anita Marshall (David Bowling) of Cypress, TX and Wannetta (Rick) Schram of Bay City; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Don Schaar of Midland, Ron (Marie) Schaar of Owosso and Ed (Sally) Schaar of Lake George; sister Jeanette “Tooty” Walters of Swartz Creek; sister-in-law Jean Marshall of WI; and brother-in-law Allen (Pat) Marshall of Farwell.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; brother Ray Schaar; sisters Nora Eddy and Hazel Mallard; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

The family extends a special thank you to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility staff and Dr. Ashok Vashishta for their great care of Ida.
