Obituary for Imogene Bullard
BULLARD, IMOGENE, age 98, of Weidman, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
Funeral Services for Imogene will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. A luncheon will follow graveside services at the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 4, from 2-8 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to HATS. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Imogene was born on May 6, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Bertrand and Sylvia (Swan) Sweet. She married Alden Bullard on August 2, 1947, in Isabella County. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1997. Imogene retired in 1985 from Lansing Public Schools, where she had worked as a crossing guard and recess aide. She also worked at Ferro Manufacturing and was a nurse's aide at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Imogene was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 4106 and the Lake Rod and Gun Club. She liked fishing, bowling, dancing, trips to the casino, and making quilts. She also knitted hats and donated them to the soup kitchen and VFW. Imogene loved her dogs: Tiny 1, Tiny 2, Gigi, Sukie, and Teddy. Above all, Imogene loved her family and the 50 years she and Alden spent together.
Imogene is survived by her children Jean (Butch) Glass of Weidman, Barbara (Jim) Bissett of Clare, Ken (Brenda) Bullard of Mt. Pleasant, and Carrie (Rodney) Wale of Merrill; daughters-in-law Marcia Bullard of Lansing, Linda Claybaugh of Gray Lake; special friend and cousin Paul Swan of Eaton Rapids, special friend and neighbor Jane Armstrong of Weidman; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Marjorie Palmer of Midland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons Robert Bullard and Larry Claybaugh; brother Bertrand Sweet; and 3 sisters Ester Von Doloski, Julia Smalley, and Gertrude Coddington.
