Obituary for James Delos Baker

BAKER, JAMES DELOS, age 76, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant.

A Memorial Service for Jim will be held on Friday, December 8, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Gordon officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the fellowship hall at the church. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the church or funeral chapel.

Jim was born September 10, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Alan Delos and Evelyn Inez (Niswonger) Baker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 2nd from 1960-1964. Jim married Carole Nelson on June 17, 1962 in Mt. Pleasant. He was a semi driver for UPS for over 33 years, and was a driver's license road test examiner with the State of Michigan. Jim also owned Custom Picture Framing for over 50 years. Jim served as a baseball coach and President of the Union Township Little League for many years. He enjoyed golfing, and serving the public. Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, and the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #110.

Jim is survived by his wife Carole Baker of Mt. Pleasant; 3 children: Steven James Baker (Toni Koons) of Blanchard, Christy Lyn (Eric) Lindbloom of Mattawan, and Jeffrey Alan (Jacquelin) Baker of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren: Justin and Shelby Baker, Anneka and Kjerstin Lindbloom, Evan and Andrew Baker; 3 sisters Dorene(Jerry) Papenfus of Mt. Pleasant, Diane (Harland) Grace of Shepherd, and Dorothy (Doug) Myers of Canal Fulton, OH.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
