Janice Gail Cotter, age 60, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Woodland Hospice House.

Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service for Janice will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Prayer Service held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Janice Cotter Endowment Fund through the Mt. Pleasant Community Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Janice was born on November 9, 1955 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Ivan and Gladys (Petoskey) Gillespie. Janice graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1973. She married Robert Cotter on April 20, 1974 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Rosebush. Janice worked as an office manager for Bear Packaging for many years. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Janice enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Cotter; children, Kevin (Jennifer) Cotter and Kelly (Charles) Stahl, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Andrew and Grant Stahl, and Joseph Cotter; siblings, Dale (LaDonna) Gillespie of Hazel Park, Jerry Gillespie of Farwell, Sharon Wilkins of Portage, Rosie (Dave) Ebbinghaus of Blanchard, Ken (Luann) Gillespie of Mt. Pleasant, Shirley (Rockey) Koons of Mt. Pleasant, Jim (Karen) Gillespie of Lake; and David Gillespie of Mt. Pleasant, in-laws, Diane (Wayne) Schmid, Margaret (Frank) Dodd, and Dennis (Barb) Cotter, all of Rosebush, and Jean (Mark) Rau of Weidman; and many nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Bernard and Wanda Cotter; brother in law Dave Wilkins, and sisters-in-law, Cheryl Cotter and Peggy Cotter.
