Obituary for John Howard Monteith Gage

John Howard Monteith  Gage
GAGE, JOHN HOWARD MONTEITH, age 96, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw.

Funeral Services for John will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 27, at 4 p.m. with Cheryl Davis officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Interment will take place in the Lake City Cemetery. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

John was born on January 9, 1921, in Jennings, MI, the son of Leon and Edna (Hawkinson) Gage. He married Jean Bundschuh on December 18, 1941, in Flint. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII, serving as a belly gunner on a B17 in the 8th Air Force 100th Bomb Group. After serving his country, John worked in the claims department for Social Security for 26 years. He was a member of the VFW and loved to hunt, fish, and play pool.

John is survived by his daughters, Julie Rhodes of Mt. Pleasant and Joan Torres of Shepherd; grandchildren, Stephanie (Clifford) Russell, Christina (Frank) Engler, Nina (Nick Dennis) Major, and Bethanie (Brandon) Anton; and 7 great-grandchildren, Macie, Lindsey, Nicholas, Emma, Andrew, Olivia, and Jayden.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Jean on February 16, 2013; sons-in-law, Terry Rhodes in 2009 and Zeke Torres in 2008; parents; and sister, Anna Jean Gage.
