Obituary for John Edward Reihl

REIHL, JOHN EDWARD, age 95, of Brighton, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Rosebush Manor.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ricky Varner officiating. Rite of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Cemetery. A Luncheon will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Beal City following burial. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, November 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. Rosary will be prayed on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Rosebush Manor Endowment Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

John was born on October 23, 1921 in Beal City, MI, the son of John and Mary (Miller) Reihl. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII, serving in the Pacific. He was stationed in Sault Ste. Marie, where he met his former wife, Ruth (Duffy) Reihl who survives him. Ruth served as a member of the SPARS in the US Coast Guard. They married and had their three children Jo Ann, Lawrence, and Geraldine. John worked as a pipe fitter, and retired in 1980 after 30 years. John loved square dancing and throwing horseshoes.

John is survived by 2 children Lawrence Reihl of Woodhaven, Geraldine (Gerald) Morris of Traverse City; son-in-law Don DuBuc of Brighton; 5 grandchildren Carolyn, Anne, Julie, Marc, and Laurie; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Patricia) Reihl of Blanchard; two sisters Marie McIntyre of Williamsburg and Teresa Maeder of Weidman.

John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jo Ann DuBuc; brothers Joseph, Charles, Walter, Franklin; and sisters Regina Smith and Veronica Hauck.
