Obituary for John Dennis Todink

John Dennis  Todink
TODINK, JOHN DENNIS, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at home.

Funeral Services for John will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. A Luncheon will take place at the Parish Hall following service. Interment will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family has requested there be no flowers, but please consider a memorial contribution to either Woodland Hospice or Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

John was born on July 24, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the son of George and Helen (Veres) Todink. He married Julia Foltz on July 12, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant. John graduated from Shepherd High School in 1948. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956, after graduating from Central Michigan University in 1952. 1964, John earned his Masters degree in Education. John worked in the public schools as an art teacher, then at the state home as a special education teacher. For the last thirteen years of his career, John worked as a social worker and counselor for the State of Michigan Mental Health. John enjoyed traveling, and was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Disabled American Veterans.

John is survived by his wife, Julia (Foltz) Todink of Mt. Pleasant; son, Dennis Todink of Baldwin; sister, Mary Todink or Mt. Pleasant; special niece, Connie; special friend Nancy, and many, many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Julia Milligan, Violet Mester, Florence Pohl; brothers, George Todink Jr. and Mike Todink.
