Joseph Edward Moose was born in West Virginia on August 1, 1932 to Harold and Marie (Bingle) Moose and died on May 13, 2006. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1950. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and took his basic and military police training in Georgia. He served one year in Korea during the Korean War as a Military Policeman with the 2nd Division and reached the rank of Sergeant before discharge. He worked as a journeyman plasterer for the next 14 years. During this time he married Mary Randal and became the father of two sons, David and Thomas. He went to work for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company in 1964 as a service man. He retired in 1994 with 30 years of service. Joe was a life member of the Clare VFW Post #5738, a member of the Harrison American Legion Post #404, a member of the Yankee Air Force of Saginaw and the National Rifle Association. He loved hunting and fishing until his health forced him to quit. He also had hobbies of collecting antique oil lamps and working on his HO model railroad layouts and running his trains. He also restored a 1952 Willys Jeep.

He is survived by his second wife Karla (Cooper), son David and wife Lyn and grandson, Aidan, son Thomas and wife Kathy and granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth; stepdaughter Marcie and husband Tim Otteman and step-granddaughter, Kaitlin; Father and Mother in law Ronald and Donna Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents, first wife Mary and sister Jane.

Funeral services for Joe will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Vredeveld officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 17 from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Michigan Community Hospital Emergency Room for Equipment, VFW Pettit-Kapplinger Post 5738 in Clare, Pere Marquette District Library in Clare or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
