Julie Francis Beeckman 94, of Midland, formerly of Clare, Lake, and Saginaw passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at her home in Midland. Julia was born October 27, 1923 in Bay County, Michigan the daughter of Michael Wazny and Mary (Skibiski) Wazny. Julia was united in marriage to Mr. Norbert “Bob” Beeckman on November 23, 1940 in Munger, Michigan. Mr. Beeckman preceded Julia in death on February 6, 1997 after fifty-seven years of marriage.
Bob and Julie raised their children in Saginaw and upon retirement they moved to Lake, Michigan where they lived for twenty-five years. Julie was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Clare for many years. Julie enjoyed art work, gardening, especially her beloved Hydrangea plants. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting hats, which she lovingly donated to the children of her church. Her greatest passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren and cat.
Julie is survived by her four loving children; Becky Zane of San Marcos, California, Carol Westover of Beaverton, Michigan, Chris Skaff of Vicksburg, Michigan, Jim and wife Debbie of Lake, Michigan. Twenty -one grandchildren and several step grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, one sister, Bernie Smigiel and husband Joe of Midland, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Beeckman was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Clem Beeckman, two daughters; Jeannie McNalley and Betsy Simsted, two great grandsons, and seven brothers.
Family Gathering Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Hope Parish, 106 East Wheaton Avenue, Clare, Michigan 48617, with Rev. Peter Nwokoye officiating, Memorial Mass celebrating Julia will be held at 11:00 a.m. following family gathering. Please join us for luncheon immediately following memorial mass. Private Inurnment will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Michigan. Memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Beeckman may be considered to Grace Hospice.
