Katherine "Kate" (Blackmer) Lucas, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, born on October 20, 1932 in Rural Isabella Co., Michigan, to the late Orpha and Lawrence, passed away at age 85 on March 22, 2018 in Millbrook, Michigan, with her family by her side.

Katherine graduated from Central Michigan University. She was a well known artist and educator. Kate was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles, her brothers, Aaron, Harvey, Fredrick, and Benjamin; sisters, Ina, Doris, Donella, and Barbara; grandmothers, Lottie Burns Blackmer and Nora Foster Meier; and grandfathers, Harvey Blackmer and Aaron Meier.

Katherine is survived by her sons, Stephen (Beth Anne) and Kirk (special friend Karen); daughter, Jennifer (Daniel); and brother, Thomas.

She enjoyed weaving, painting, ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture. Kate was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Mount Pleasant, and she was an early board member of Art Reach.

Donations in Katherine's name can be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice (Formerly Woodland Hospice). The family offers heartfelt thanks to the Mid-Michigan Hospice team. Friends and family can pay their respects at the celebration of life service, officiated by Nancy Casey Fulton, on Friday, March 30, at 12:00 p.m. Family will receive friends one hour prior (11 a.m.) and a luncheon will follow service at Clark Funeral Chapel, 114 South Bradley, Mount Pleasant, Michigan, 48858.
