Obituary for Kay Myra Jones

JONES, KAY MYRA, age 69, of Blanchard, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief battle with Leukemia on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Woodland Hospice.

Funeral Services for Kay will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rob Tripp and Rev. Robin VeltKamp officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Pine River Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Isabella Commission on Aging, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Kay was born on March 31, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Burr and Harriet (Rubingh) Abrahamson. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1966. Kay graduated from CMU in 1970 Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Kay married Jimmie Alan Jones on August 29, 1970. She worked at CMU from 1969-1973 as a computer and math professor. Kay worked alongside Jim for many years as his bookkeeper for Jim's Auto Collision. She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Remus where she served as the church treasurer and pianist for many years. Kay was also active with Isabella Commission on Aging, where she would sing and play guitar with the "Music Makers". She and Jim traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Egypt, and Israel. Over the years, Kay loved camping, snowmobiling, collecting loons, sewing, shooting archery on a league, and looking for elk in Northern Michigan Above all, she loved being a Grandma and spending time with her daughters. Kay liked to do sudoko, crossword, and jigsaw puzzles. She and Jim enjoyed playing weekly games with friends, and going to sporting events at Montabella. Kay was the love of Jim's life and will be missed dearly by her family.

Kay is survived by her husband Jim Jones of Blanchard; daughter Janette Jones (Gary Tyler) of Coldwater; daughter Laurie (Ryan) Pant of Blanchard; granddaughter Paige Pant; brothers Ross (Emily) Abrahamson of Traverse City and Keith (Karen) Abrahamson of Eaton Rapids; brother-in-law John (Joni) Jones of Gaylord; and several nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew Curt Abrahamson.
