NICHOLS, KENNETH L., age 90 of Bluffton, IN, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services for Ken will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Larry Sprinkle officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, St Louis, MI. A Luncheon will be held at the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of Service. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Christian College, 6211 W. Willow Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Ken was born August 22, 1927, in Troy Township, Oakland County, Michigan. He was the son of Samuel and Edna (Burgess) Nichols. He married Margaret Potter on January 16, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant. Ken first worked at Roosevelt Oil Co. as an accounting clerk before being drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1950. Following his return from service in 1952, he entered Central Michigan College and graduated with a BA degree in accounting with a minor in economics and speech. Upon graduation, he was employed by the U.S. Government with the general accounting office in Detroit, MI. Later he was transferred to the Dept. of Army with the tank division, Warren, MI. Later in his career he worked as an analyst with the Fighter Vehicle System program where the Bradley Fighting Vehicle was developed and deployed. In 1985, Ken retired after 30 years of government service. He was also a member of First Church of Christ, Mt Pleasant, and a member of the Order of Oddfellows, Mt. Pleasant Lodge #217.

Ken is survived by his children, Penny (Larry) Sprinkle of Bluffton, IN, and Scott (Doris) Nichols of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren, Bethany (David) Hodges, Christy Perkins, Nicole (Mike) Smith, Nathan (Chantel) Nichols, Tammy, Benjamin, and ReBecca Nichols; great-grandchildren, Katheryn and Chris Smith, Jake Perkins, and Zack Nichols.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Nichols; parents, Samuel and Edna Nichols; sisters, Ruth Nichols, Edith Struble, and Betty Vallad; and brothers, Nathan, Ben, Clyde, and James Nichols.
