Obituary for L. Raymond Wilson

L. Raymond  Wilson
WILSON, L. RAYMOND, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, at his home under the care of Great Lakes Hospice.

Funeral Services for Ray will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian McConnell officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Burial will take place at a later date at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Clark Family Funeral Chapel the day of the Service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice https://secure.blueseaonline.net/greatlakes/. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Ray was born September 12, 1926, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Charles and Lydia (Zier). He married Allie Mae "Tillie" McConnell on October 12, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2016. Ray was a lifelong farmer and operated the family farm, L. Raymond Wilson and Sons. He enjoyed carpentry work and helped build many homes for his family. Ray loved deer hunting, but his biggest passion were his grandchildren and time spent with them.

Ray is survived by his children, Linda (Larry) First, Michael (Wanda) Wilson, John (Linda) Wilson, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Deborah (Gordon) Redmond of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Charles "June" (Margaret) Wilson of Farwell, Robert (Judy) Wilson, Richard (Sharlene) Wilson, and William "Bill" (Diane) Wilson, all of Mt. Pleasant; sister Patricia (Russell) Torpey of Barryton; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 3 sisters Betty, Lori, and Pam; and 4 brothers Don, Jim, Harry, and George.
