Lavern Richard  Owen
OWEN, LAVERN RICHARD, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Woodland Hospice House.

A Memorial Service for Lavern will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held at the Reflections Reception Center following the Committal. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on the day of the service from 12 noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or Isabella County Soup Kitchen. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Lavern was born January 7, 1926, in Evart, Michigan, to James Albert and Cora Ann (McCain) Owen. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1943 to 1946, earning the Purple Heart. Lavern married Virgie Mae Alexander on August 31, 1946, in Evart, and she preceded him in death in 2010. He was a letter carrier for the Mt. Pleasant Post Office for 27 years. Lavern enjoyed woodworking and volunteering for both Woodland Hospice and the Isabella County Soup Kitchen for over 20 years.

Lavern is survived by his children, Randall (Joleen) Owen of Mt. Pleasant, Rodney (Vickie) Owen of Snohomish, WA, and Scott (Sue Ellen) Owen of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren, Chad Owen, Joel Owen, Eric (Becky) Pope, Wyatt Owen, and Walker Owen; and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Owen; grandson, Randall S. Owen; parents; 5 brothers; and 5 sisters.
