Obituary for Leona Frances Halfmann

HALFMANN, LEONA FRANCES, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Father Don Henkes officiating. Rite of Committal will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel and on Thursday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella Commission on Aging or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Leona was born March 24, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Julius and Alida (Claus) Windel. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. Leona married Kenneth Halfmann on January 10, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ken preceded her in death in 2008. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, bingo, crocheting, knitting, and making scrubbies. Leona loved to travel, and had visited 49 states. She was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and loved spending time with her family.

Leona is survived by her children: Elaine (Rod) Brickner of Shepherd, Sandy (Doug) White of Shepherd, Esther Pitchford of Farwell, Lynn Ann (Larry) Bouchey of Clare, Ronald (Mary) Halfmann of Rosebush, and Jill (Pat) O'Brien of Mt. Pleasant; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sisters Alice D'Hulster of Harper Woods, Laura Pohl of Mt. Pleasant, and Rose Robinson of Lansing.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Jim Halfmann; son-in-law Eric Pitchford; sisters, Annie Halfmann and Helen Johnson; and great grandson Zach Myers.

The Halfmann family would like to extend their appreciation to Prestige Centre, Isabella County Medical Care Facility, McLaren Central Michigan Hospital, and Clark Family Funeral Chapel for the excellent care provided to Leona.
