She was born on November 2, 1936 in Dearborn, Michigan to Leo and Helen Rothermel and was the youngest and only daughter of 4 children. When she was young, she attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School in Dearborn, Michigan.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Doyle Walker and leaving behind 6 children Maura (David) Davis, Sheryl (Beckie Seward) Fausett, Sally Border, Rick (Vicky) Border. Steve (Ross Abent) Border, Judy (Herb) Wybenga, and 3 step children Brad Walker, Alicia (Mark) Peffer, Jill (Randy Robinson) David, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was employed at Central Michigan Community Hospital and retired as a phlebotomist. She thought of her co-workers as extended family, enjoying the social but hard-working atmosphere.

One of Marlene’s greatest joys was always being available for a good long conversation with any of her family or friends. Her deepest concern was always for her family’s wellbeing.
