Obituary for Marvin Lee Cole
COLE, MARVIN LEE, age 82, of Rosebush passed away Monday, January 4, 2016, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Marvin will be held at Mt. Pleasant Community Church on Thursday, January 7, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wally Hostetter officiating. A Luncheon will follow the service at the church. Interment will take place in Denver Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Community Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.
Marvin was born on July 13, 1933, in Rosebush, the son of Dearl and Beatrice (Graham) Cole. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in the Class of 1952. After high school, Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Beverly Shiraef on July 14, 1956, in Rosebush. Marvin worked for Ferro Manufacturing for 4 years and then for General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. Marvin was a member of Mt. Pleasant Community Church and the National Rifle Association. Marvin loved his God, his church, and his family. He was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Community Church. He enjoyed wood-working, hunting, and spending countless hours with family and friends on their hunting property having cook-outs, four-wheeling and relaxing.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly; sons, Paul (Darsha) Cole of Mt. Pleasant, Theodore (Teresa) Cole, and Larry (Lisa) Cole, both of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Sally) Cole of Mt. Pleasant and Greg (Tracy) Tennant of Kansas City, KS.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Joel Tennant; and half-sister, Marilyn McCoy.
