Obituary for Mary Lois Molson (Myers)

MOLSON, MARY LOIS, age 86, of Mt. Pleasant passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital.

A Private family gathering for Mary will be held on August 23, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to the Francis and Mary Molson Award in English Education at Central Michigan University. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Mary was born on July 25, 1931, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Morehouse) Myers. She married Francis Joseph Molson on August 23, 1958, on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Mary received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of St. Francis and her Master's from Indiana University. Mary loved educating children, teaching 2nd grade in South Bend, IN, and Mt. Pleasant for over 20 years. After retiring, Mary was active at St. Mary's University Parish for many years, serving as a bread maker. She also enjoyed volunteering at Art Reach. Mary and Francis, were honored to be selected as Danford Associates. The two of them established the Francis and Mary Molson Award in English Education at Central Michigan University, and donated their collection of original artwork for children's books to the Clarke Historical Library.

Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Francis; children, Charles Molson, Barbara Ann Molson, Mary Katherine Molson, and Caroline (James) Ford; 2 grandchildren, James and Catherine Ford; and brother, Paul Myers.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth; and brothers, Larry, Phillip, and Ralph.
