Maynard  Melvin  Strong
STRONG, MAYNARD MELVIN, age 83, of Remus, Michigan passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home.

Funeral Services for Maynard will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Broomfield Township, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with his grandson, Pastor Jason Strong, officiating. Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. A Luncheon will follow at Zion Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Broomfield Township. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Maynard was born January 9, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Ralph and Albertha (Hein) Strong. He graduated from Remus High School with the class of 1951. He married Gladys June Davidson on December 2, 1956. Maynard was a lifelong dairy farmer, also serving as an Isabella County 4-H Leader for many years. He was past President and Secretary of Zion Lutheran Church Council, a Broomfield Township Board Trustee, member of Michigan Milk Producers Association, Michigan Farm Bureau, and past State Director of Jr. Michigan Farm Bureau. Maynard loved to travel, enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Maynard is survived by his wife Gladys June Strong of Remus, MI; three sons, Pastor Dennis (Kathy) Strong of Grand Junction, CO, Neil (Carrie) Strong of Remus, MI, Gerald "Jerry" (Kristin) Strong of San Diego, CA; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his sister Elaine (Ted) Kuske of Fairmont, MN.

Maynard was preceded in death by his parents.
