Obituary for Melvin Junior "Mel" Foster

Melvin Junior "Mel"  Foster
FOSTER, MELVIN “MEL” JUNIOR, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Melvin will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rick Foster officiating. A luncheon will follow the Service in the Reflections Reception Center. Cremains will be interred in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of Service on Saturday at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Melvin was born on June 26, 1936, in Shepherd, the son of Chrissie and Harriet (Garen) Foster. Melvin was last employed at Al Roy’s Body Shop painting automobiles. He had previously worked in the oilfield for Gordon Drilling, for North American, and as a dishwasher at CMU. Melvin married Shirley Moore on June 30, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant. He bowled in a bowling league at Chippewa Lanes and raced at the Mt. Pleasant Speedway. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and pontooning on Wixom Lake.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Shirley Foster of Mt. Pleasant; 3 children Rhonda Klein, Randy (Beverly) Foster, and Robbin Tanner, all of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren, Mikey (Leslie) Klein, Amanda (Corey) Logan, Kody (Janice Morrow) Klein, Trevor (Alejandra Martinez) Gillis, Samantha (Damian Gurskie) Shackelford, and Tannor Shackelford; 11 grandchildren; and sister Jane Smith of WI.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons-in-law Mike Klein and Terry Gillis; 2 brothers Wilbur and Richard and 2 sisters-in-law Yvonne and Rita.
